Our philosophy...
"Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that are modeled on the relationships found in natural ecologies. In taking the Roof-Garden at Polymer as a stepping stone for the development of further projects, we wanted to encourage sustainable land use design that involved all communities in Tallinn. In making a garden that was self-sufficient in terms of the ecological processes of flora, nutrient cycles, climatic factors and weather cycles, we were creating social and vegetqional harmony in the space situated in Polymer.
In some ways, we hope that through the continuation of our development of teaching permaculture techniques, we can offer a bridge of connectivity between the Russian-speaking and Estonian-speaking communities in Tallinn. We view our club as an important way of merging cultures, having a positive impact on the integration of societies, as well as an important factor in spreading the word of eco-friendly living in our city.
We hope to expand our projects by developing spaces and systems that are co-reliant, where the elements of nutrution, the weather and regeneration of flora and vegitation help each other in a self-sufficent cycle. 'Waste' will become resources, and productivity of the spaces will increase with time, and hopefully the positivity generated through building these systems will have a positive impact on the emergence of a 'co-society', where both communities are working together to create a harmonious living centre for all. Permaculture principles can be adapted to both urban and country-side regions, so we could see our club expanding in size to educate all the inhabitants of Estonia in a manner that relates not only to ecology, but also to society."
